For the second year running, the UN is celebrating the Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day (World SME Day). These enterprises, generally with 250 or less employees, are playing a major role in driving economies around the globe and are a pivotal part of developing countries’ economies. Small businesses make up over 90% of all companies world-wide and employ between 60-70% of total workforces.
The UN is encouraging its Member States, international organizations, and civil societies, to highlight World SME Day. The goal is one of public awareness of the contribution of SMEs to sustainable economic development.
