Mont Adventure Equipment was founded in 1981 by Andrew ‘Monty’ Montgomery after his frustration with poor-quality adventure gear. Based in Fyshwick, ACT, it grew into a leading supplier of high-quality adventure equipment to Australian and international customers, still maintaining its flagship Canberra store.
The challenge
It ran a server-based warehouse inventory system, while the retail store used a POS that didn’t ‘speak’ to the warehouse. Stock had to be uploaded to the shop manually without knowing warehouse levels — a full-time ‘nightmare’ with frequent wrong stock and selling items they didn’t have. Constant network/server issues plagued it, and it wanted eCommerce but the old system couldn’t integrate.
The solution
It researched what similarly sized companies used, found JCurve ERP highly recommended, and signed up. Implementation was easy and fully cloud-based, migrated by Jcurve with specific customisations, handling all 24,000 SKUs (past and present). Shop and warehouse now run on one system, and it’s moving eCommerce from Magento to Shopify, which JCurve integrates with.
The results
Immediate benefits since shop and warehouse share one system — creating products, tracking stock and payroll all simplified, with improved staff morale. Role-specific dashboards show KPIs in real-time; travelling/overseas staff can work normally (impossible before). CRM records customer notes and full history, and it generates 4,500+ invoices/month at peak.
We saw instantaneous benefits with Jcurve ERP, because the shop was running off the same system as the warehouse. Creating new products and keeping track of stock was simplified, payroll was also simplified.
