Customer overview
SCG (formerly Siam Cement Group), founded in 1913 by royal decree of King Rama VI, is now a leading ASEAN conglomerate with three core units (Cement-building materials, Chemicals, Packaging). In Indonesia (since 1995) it leads pipe manufacturing and distribution through subsidiary SCG Pipe and Precast Indonesia (SPPI).
The challenge
SPPI ran a legacy on-premise ERP that no longer met the needs of manufacturing or sales teams. Business units’ systems were separated and data was out of date, causing unclear production costing and invoicing — like ‘an office and factory in different locations’. Two servers required redundant data syncing, sometimes causing data loss. The old system was also losing support within 2–3 months, creating a very tight timeline.
The solution
Chose NetSuite (supported by Jcurve, with one of the largest NetSuite consultant teams in Asia-Pacific) for its modularity — picking only required modules — and customisation flexibility. Selection criteria: features, functionality, cost, timeline. Jcurve completed the implementation in under three months, spanning multiple modules and migrating data from three businesses.
The results
All functional data is now integrated, giving greater control and process visibility. The centralised system means every unit uses one platform, making data easy to track. Being cloud, it runs 24/7 with no server checks. The General Ledger is aligned with the parent company, easing budgeting and consolidation, and overall finance/operations are far more convenient.
NetSuite is more modular. We can pick and choose only the modules we require for our business. NetSuite was comparable in functionality and much more flexible in terms of customisation.
