Specialised Therapeutics (ST) was founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife pharma executives Carlo Montagner and Bozena Zembrzuski as an independent, family-owned company providing specialist therapies for unmet medical needs. It partners with US and European pharma/biotech firms to commercialise products in Australia, NZ and Southeast Asia. Its foundation therapy Abraxane is one of Australia’s most successful chemotherapies.
The challenge
When Kim Weston joined as CFO in 2016, the company had accumulated multiple disconnected systems — finance used MYOB, marketing used Salesforce. Data was duplicated, and MYOB couldn’t support the multi-subsidiary, multi-currency setup (at least six currencies, inventory across ANZ and SE Asia). Generating simple reports took days.
The solution
Chose NetSuite after shortlisting several vendors, with Jcurve (a 5-star NetSuite partner) handling deployment and support. It was customised from financials to doctor’s prescriptions, regulatory reporting to sales orders, and integrated with Celigo (Google email) and Microsoft Power BI for medical/sales dashboards.
The results
One real-time source of truth replaced the disparate systems. Every team makes faster, more confident decisions. Budget processes that once took weeks (and late nights) are dramatically reduced; complex analysis is fast, impressing partners with quick responses. Multi-subsidiary fits well, and support resolves issues at first contact.
