A toast to success
with Jcurve ERP

A top-100 Australian winery cut costs and gained transparency with cloud ERP.

Customer overview

Scotchmans Hill is a wine producer on the Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, established in 1982, focused on individualistic wines using modern and traditional techniques. It ranks among James Halliday’s top 100 Australian wineries. CFO: Avril Ferdinando.

The challenge

As a long-running company it used traditional processes — reps phoned in orders, written on a board then entered into a legacy system. It was labour-intensive, with up to six back-office staff just processing orders and high human-error potential. Cost and limited office space drove the need for change; complex inventory (vintages, bottle/case sizes) needed proper handling.

The solution

Chose JCurve ERP (NetSuite’s small business edition), cloud-based, with weekly Jcurve check-ins through completion. Later upgraded to NetSuite Mid-Market (>20 users). Reps now order via iPad instantly and see real-time stock; sales reports generate automatically. It handles stock variations and the wine industry’s specific ‘wet tax’.

The results

Operations transformed — order processing cut from 30 minutes to 2; support staff (casual/part-time) cut from 6 to 2; sales up 43% since deployment; overheads (office rent, wages) reduced by $150,000; real-time transparency across the business. Now exporting to new markets such as China.

With Jcurve ERP and NetSuite, we cut overheads by $150,000 and gained vital transparency across our operations – the big factor is that it’s real-time.
