FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
JCURVE FOR SMALL
BUSINESS SOFTWARE
Data security and reliability
How secure is the data centre?
JCurve for Small Business is a NetSuite service which is hosted at NetSuite's multi-tenant, always-on SaaS infrastructure and world-class data centres, which were developed with multiple layers of data redundancy to deliver comprehensive security and business continuity. Features of these facilities include:
- Uninterruptible power supplies
- Redundant internet connections
- HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) and sprinkler systems
- 24/7 on-site guards, video surveillance, alarms and access-control systems
How is my data protected while stored on JCurve’s systems? Can it be encrypted?
In two ways. While it’s travelling over the internet, your user ID, password and all company information are encrypted with 128-bit SSL, the same level of transaction security currently utilised by some of the world’s largest web banking and ecommerce businesses. Your company information is also encrypted while it’s stored on the hard drives in the datacentre, – neither JCurve nor NetSuite can read your data at all.
Downtime / uptime guarantees
JCurve provides you a service level guarantee of 99.5% uptime backed by NetSuite. NetSuite ensures that the servers are maintained correctly so that we can deliver – and exceed – this guarantee. Server downtime is much less likely to happen than the chance of your own laptop and desktop computers failing.
Can I back up my own data?
Yes, you can, although NetSuite consistently does it for you. NetSuite provides many layers of redundancy (fall back measures) to ensure you can access up-to-date data. All production data for work in progress is automatically and immediately stored to backup locations. NetSuite also conducts daily backups and store the records securely in a separate location from the data centre. Like the data centre, the backup facility is designed to provide protection under almost any environmental condition.
What happens if you upgrade the system and it breaks my data?
In this very unlikely event the absolute worst case scenario is the JCurve with NetSuite will recover your system back to the previous backed up state at no cost to your business.
Importing and exporting customer and business record data
How do I import my own customer and business records?
JCurve for Small Business includes a comprehensive data import feature so that you can load existing records created in other software including customer record types. The import wizard includes automatic validation and you are able to set up specific fields for import. This function can also be run in update mode.
How do I extract or export all of my data from the JCurve system?
Click the “Full CSV Export” button located in the Import / Export menu and follow the steps to export your data. You can do this at any time and at no additional cost.
How do I transfer my current data?
The import templates will guide you through the data transfer process. They include functions for converting records relating to customers, items, supplier records and accounts. During the commissioning process we do an initial test load of some of your data before a full import of your existing data so that we can discuss the best configuration options for your business and we will also guide you through each template.
Can I upload sales history?
Yes, you can, although technically a full upload of your sales history ties up your computer and internet connection, and requires careful planning to import the correct data. We would need to understand the level of detail and volume of transactions involved before we could make recommendation.
Most of my suppliers supply price lists as CSV files – can I upload these into the product database?
Yes, this is a standard feature. We also provide sophisticated mass update options to apply price changes to sales price records based on supplier cost movements. For example, if a supplier increases the cost price of items they supply, the retail price can be increased by the same percentage.
E-commerce, online payments and orders
How do I upload new stock items to a linked web site?
With the E-commerce module you can simply tick a box alongside the stock item to automatically make the image, product information and price available on your website. This function saves you from having to export the information and then load it onto the website yourself.
Is there a way to automatically view web enquiries?
Yes, the Web lead enquiry form will automatically generate a record into the back office system so that you can read an enquiry, respond to it and track it within the system. This function also saves you from re-entering enquiries and emails into the system.
Does the system handle pricing levels?
Yes. You can create an unlimited number of price levels to sell your items. You can setup VIP price, Customer, Reseller, 5%, 10%, 15% discounts, etc.

Internet access and Web-based software
What are the advantages of a web-based software compared to an in-house or on-premise solution?
JCurve does a lot of the hard work for you. Rather than managing installation, upgrades, maintenance etc yourself – as you would normally need to do with an on-promise solution – JCurve does it all for you. You won’t need your own servers (or upgrades to existing servers and you don’t need to sort out maintenance or hire IT support for hardware. JCurve for Small Business simply works over the web – similar to other web-based services you might have used, such as Gmail, Hotmail, Flickr, Facebook etc. We handle all of the hardware and software upgrades at our end in our data centre, including server maintenance, software testing, functionality upgrades and enhancements. A web-based software system is more convenient and more accessible.

How do I log in to the system?
In a similar way to how you log into your Gmail or Hotmail account. You open up a web browser, access the website address and enter your Username and Password. It is that easy.
Does it work on a Mac?
Yes, of course. JCurve for Small Business is a web-based system, which means you can use any standard computer hardware, as long as you have a web browser installed and a good reliable internet connection.
Which web browsers work best with the system?
JCurve for Small Business currently supports Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
What happens if my internet connection goes down?
Neither of us – JCurve and you – can control the reliability of your internet connection. However, most ISPs deliver on clear SLAs (service level agreements) for connection reliability. If your main internet connection in your office goes down for any reason, the fact JCurve for Small Business is a web-based system means that you still have the option of working on a laptop or smartphone with mobile broadband or Wi-Fi access wherever you can get a connection, such as in a café or hotel.
Do I need fast internet access?
Any regular broadband connection should be up to the job, although you may be better off with a business-grade broadband service to avoid some of the network speed loss or dropouts of congested residential-grade services. If your current broadband service is unreliable, please speak to us about making a recommendation.
Employee, contractor, partner and customer access
Can I track the performance of my employees and contractors?
Yes, the system allows you to track employee and contractor performance through the Employee Centre, which contains Time Sheets, Expense forms and performance against KPIs set by you.
If an employee leaves my business, how can I protect my intellectual property?
You can immediately block their permission to access the system and because the system records every single user action, you will have real proof of any infringements that happened before you blocked access. For example, if someone tried to export data, you will have a record of the activity, including time, date and login.
As our business grows, what are the costs for adding extra users?
Please contact the JCurve Sales Department to discuss your options. You may even find that you do not need to add extra users. Talk with us about centralising some roles and responsibilities, and therefore controlling the number of core users needed. Our experience tells us that a company with 10-30 employees usually requires only 10 core people to have access to the system.
Can I give access to my customers?
Yes. You can set up access for an unlimited number of customers at no additional cost to log in securely via your website and complete permitted tasks, such as paying for invoices, viewing purchase history, placing new orders and updating their contact details.
Support and service
What level of customer support is available?
We can offer 6:00am to 6:00pm call back support to cover all your queries about JCurve for Small Business. Unlike other software support services which typically only cover software bug issues, the JCurve support service will answer your how to questions over the phone. Simply log a query and a support consultant will call you to answer your questions.
Can we adapt the software to your specific requirements?
Yes we can. JCurve does not limit your ability fully customise the system including records, fields, reports, workflow and forms. We do recommend that you engage a qualified consultant to undertake major revisions, however if you have a technical streak all your options are fully documented with examples.
How is JCurve different from NetSuite?
We have not simply re-badged the NetSuite product. JCurve is actually a re-packaged version with pre-built content designed specifically for small business. We have worked hard to pre-populate reports, forms, and records that are the most commonly used options in small businesses to give you a running start and reduce the cost of commissioning.

While 24/7 access to your applications from any PC is an obvious benefit, an equally important feature of cloud systems is that you don't have to pay for expensive server hardware, or for the staff expertise to maintain and manage that equipment.
